Mrs. Sarah Owen Doherty, relict of Fisher Doherty, died last Sunday at 6:30 o'clock at the home of her son, Marsh Doherty, 804 Jennison street. The funeral took place on Tuesday morning at ten o'clock. The interment was at Oak Hill. Mrs. Doherty was born in Cincinnati, September 24, 1820, and was married to Fisher Dotherty at Brookville, Indiana, April 14, 1840. After a short residence at Connersville, they came to this city where Mr. Doherty formed a partnership with Dr. Brown in the drug business. Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Doherty, only one of whom lives Marshall Doherty. The others, Matt Doherty and Mrs. John B. Robb, died in recent years, the death of Matt Doherty occurring exactly a year before that of his mother. Fisher Doherty during his life was one of the most prominent citizens of this place and lived to celebrate his golden wedding here. He was active in business and in charitable work and before the war was a prominent promoter of the underground railroad, harboring many a runaway negro in his home. Mrs. Doherty was devoted to him thoroughly in his work and was a woman liberally endowed by nature and of great force of character. She had many friends and they all grieve her loss. - thanks, Kim H
